Think you're missing something? (Think again)
“You have what you need.”
These wise words from Chad Jenkins, Founder of SEEDSPARK, are the opposite of what we usually hear.
“We were all factory installed with what we need to thrive in the idea economy,” said Jenkins. "So if I had some polite suggestions that someone might consider, it is to breathe. You have what you need.”
Many of us are walking around thinking we’re behind, lacking a key skill or we just don’t have what it takes to “succeed.”
That’s likely because everyday, we’re bombarded with:
- LinkedIn feeds about 10x results, making steady progress feel insignificant
- The constant “AI will replace X role” pressure
- New products, podcasts, workshops, or hacks promising success
The problem isn’t a lack of tools or skills. The problem is forgetting how to use what we already have.
The world isn’t quieting down, but you can step away long enough to get back to you. Your skills, your passions, your natural way of finding solutions.
This is where creativity, solutions and breakthrough thinking begins.
Even the tech world is starting to validate this human-first approach.
- At HubSpot INBOUND, the focus was on Humans + AI.
- The new Loop Marketing begins with authentic self-expression, then moves to understanding and connecting with clients on a personal level.
- Even AI prompts and training are to teach AI to think and sound more like us.
We see the same truth with leaders we talk to on RevOps Champions. Their “superpowers” aren’t learned from a blog post or downloaded from a course. They’re uncovered in the way they naturally think and solve problems.
"By asking the right questions and not adding more, but by doing less, we collapsed the [strategic] plan from 21 pages down to one. And this is when I realized I had a power to ask leaders the right questions to get them to focus on what matters most that would drive growth of companies.”
- Geoff Woods, Bestselling Author of The AI-Driven Leader
“This probably comes from being learning disabled. One of my challenges when I was a kid was spelling and writing. And so I was very lucky. I had very supportive parents. They got me a computer. So, I mean, there's always a way to augment something with technology. I think I've always just leaned into that as a way to get through any kind of obstacles."
- Kate Donavan, CEO at CAMP Digital
“I'll bring my CRO brain, I can't turn it off. It's always there. It will come into every single conversation I have as that technologist with my clients. So when we are having CRM discussions, I'm always thinking about it as a CRO to make sure that we're taking all these elements into account. We're looking at the big picture and strategy.”
- Kristen McGarr, Founder of Adroit Insights
Each leader embraced their natural way of thinking, rather than fighting against it. They prove that you don’t always need a new methodology. You need space to recognize the strengths you already have.
We’re all born with a unique “operating system.” Make the choice to learn and lean into your distinct way of thinking and solving problems. It’s exactly what the world needs.
Consider your last “ah-ha” moment. Did it come from something new you heard or from seeing familiar pieces differently?
It may be time to stop accumulating and start connecting what you already have. This applies personally, professionally and to your organization.
Today, I’m simply leaving you with a reminder to:
- Notice the problems you solve naturally
- Lean into what energizes you
- Use your own voice
Trust what you bring to the table. Articulate it to yourself. Share it with others.
What you're looking for is already available to you.
